Reasonable adjustment in disability legislation ''welcomed'' by FSB
Date:
05 Aug 2008
Company owners may be interested to learn that the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) has spoken out in favour of current disability discrimination legislation.
Marc Shoffman, spokesperson for the organisation said the law takes into account the resources available to small businesses in balancing the needs of disabled consumers and employees with financial needs.
He stated: "The FSB welcomed the disability discrimination act legislation as it was steeped in the concept of reasonable adjustment.
"Many small businesses will do all they can to adjust their premises to enable Britains ten million disabled customers to gain access to goods and services provided by small shops and other enterprises."
Almost one in five people in the UK live with a disability, heightening the need of businesses to make policy and infrastructure provisions.
Currently there are 1.2 million disabled people seeking employment in the UK.
