Parliamentary Agents

This is a highly specialised area of legal work in which Vizards Tweedie has considerable expertise.  The firm is one of the few firms of parliamentary agents in this country.  Senior partner Ronald Perry is a “Role A” agent and as such is authorised to act on behalf of the promoters and opponents of private bills.

This involves all aspects of the procedures involved in public and private legislation.  Through that expertise we have developed the ability to advise clients, particularly corporate clients with an interest in specific legislation, on the passage of a given bill or regulations through parliament.  Whenever possible we can also carry out legitimate lobbying in order to put the client’s concerns before the relevant members of the legislature. 

Furthermore our expertise in drafting amendments to public legislation and related matters means that we are ideally placed to advise on applications for, or opposition to, orders under the Transport and Works Act 1992.
